Today's useless fact - I've shampooed my carpet to try to remove
pet odor, but it's still there. What else can I try?
A couple things have worked well for me. Enzyme based
carpet cleaners
usually do the trick: "Nature's Miracle", "Kids'n'Pets", and the
like.
If it is really bad, you can use white vinegar and let it set in
for 5
minutes, than go back and PAT dry carefully. It will smell bad at
first, but it will keep it odor free for a long time afterwards.
If
you have a wet dry vac, you can suck it up after patting down and
then
sprinkle baking soda on it and vacuum it up later. Be sure to
always
wear latex gloves. If your are getting down on the floor make
sure you
wear a face mask, as many parasites enter the human body through
the
mouth and nose by inhalation while cleaning up animal droppings.
Parasites can also enter through bare feet and open wounds, so
wear
shoes. Their ova can live for a long time in a warm house, up to a
year.
