NEW ORLEANS, LA (AheadOfNews.com) - In a controversial new
program, some criminals in Louisiana will be going to crime school - to learn how to avoid
risky mistakes while committing crimes.
"Some of these men have recidivism rates of 90 percent or higher", Officer
Darvish Van Breeman explains. "so it's practically a certainty that they'll end up
back in jail. All we're doing is teaching them how to commit their crimes without
endangering themselves or others."
Classes include "Ten Tips For A Successful Mugging", "Breaking and
Entering Made Easy", "Victim Management", and "Car Chase Safety".
Not everyone will qualify for the classes, however - only criminals with a record of at
least 10 prior crimes will be admitted.
"We may not be able to keep them off the street," says Van Breeman, "but
at least we can help them become safer, more polite criminals."
